This will be my second year as one of the artists participating in this festival. Afton Art In The Park is a small festival in this St. Croix river community that draws several thousand people every year. I had a great time at last year’s festival and I’m hoping that this will be another good year.
Saturday September 25th from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Sunday September 26th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
For more information and directions please check their website @

Here are some shots from a recent trip to San Diego, CA. It has been several years since I was able to spend a good amount of time in San Diego and I was immediately reminded of how wonderful the weather is in that fine city! Upper 70s during the daytime and upper 60s at night. Though that was slightly lower than normal, the climate there is probably the most even and enjoyable in the U.S. IMHO…
I was able to take some photos that I liked and I hope that you do too!

This past weekend’s Eagan Art Festival was a mixed bag for me. After setting up my tent on Friday evening, I returned on Saturday morning for the start of the festival and, to my dismay, my tent was gone! I noticed a mangled tent about 200 feet away and, sure enough, that was my tent – destroyed. Fortunately I hadn’t hung any photos in the tent so the tent was all that I had lost in the storm. I was also fortunate to have a broken tent at home that I was able to repair with parts from this mangled tent. The show must go on!
Lots of other exhibitors lost their tents over the weekend including former Minnesota Viking and fellow photographer Matt Blair. He lost his tent during Saturday night’s storm, but recovered in time to start day two of the weekend show. He took it well and except for the fact that he had no tent on Sunday, you would have never known that anything had happened.
Sales were decent but, not great. I think that I’ll give it another try next year, however. The show operators were great to work with and the turnout was good for a small show.

Spring is my second favorite season (close behind Summer!). I love the rebirth that is around us, the fresh colors and the feeling that the best is yet to come! This Easter bouquet was so fresh and colorful that I couldn’t resist taking a few photos.

Had a chance to check out two of the fastest rising young stars in Jazz. Bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding and Alex Han a 20-year-old alto sax phenom. Two extremely talented musicians with bright futures!

I did a shoot today for Twin Cities magician/hypnotist, Amye Scharlau. She had lots of energy and didn’t need any coaching in front of the camera! Check out her website at http://www.cabinetsofwonders.com

Over the years, I have spent far too many nights in hotels. Over the last few years I began taking photographs through these windows. “View From The 8th Floor” is a collection of images from some of the many hotel windows I’ve looked through. Here is a sampling of these images…
