Had a chance to check out two of the fastest rising young stars in Jazz. Bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding and Alex Han a 20-year-old alto sax phenom. Two extremely talented musicians with bright futures!

I did a shoot today for Twin Cities magician/hypnotist, Amye Scharlau. She had lots of energy and didn’t need any coaching in front of the camera! Check out her website at http://www.cabinetsofwonders.com

Just found out this weekend that I have been selected as one of the exhibitors at this year’s Powderhorn Art Fair in Minneapolis. I hope to see many of you there.
Over the years, I have spent far too many nights in hotels. Over the last few years I began taking photographs through these windows. “View From The 8th Floor” is a collection of images from some of the many hotel windows I’ve looked through. Here is a sampling of these images…

On Saturday I made it to The Dakota Jazz Club and caught a performance by some friends and was able to get a few pics. It was a great show and it was good seeing friends that I hadn’t seen in a long time!

Well, now that the holidays are over, I think there will be more time for photos. This afternoon I went to the Lake Harriet Kite Festival. It was a beautiful (for Minnesota!) January afternoon. About 16 degrees, a gentle breeze and lots of sun. Fortunately, I arrived early so parking wasn’t a problem. I’m sure there were going to be many more people and their kites as the afternoon progressed, but I am happy with what I got and my wife and I had a good time.

This shot is from a recent senior session. Great kid, easy-going and patient. Things actually went well considering that he wasn’t really into it!

In early October, I took a trip to Albequerque, NM with the hope of photographing the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Well, as luck would have it, the two sessions that I had planned to attend were cancelled due to high winds and rain. Didn’t get any photos of balloons, but I got a view of the mountains outside of my hotel room!
